In this blog I'll share what I have learned over the years about drawing and painting. My processes creating illustrations, visual development and concept art. I'll share thoughts, techniques and ideas that have worked for me in my career as an illustrator. I hope they inspire , and work for you too!

  1. Hi Wouter, I am so inspired by your work! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am an art student hoping to become a children's book illustrator. Now I am looking into buying markers. Should I spend the money on copic markers or is it alright if I buy cheaper brands like prismacolor? Are there any other brands that you think are better or should I mix and mach? What are your basic colors? Are there any colors or brands that I must get?

  2. Hi Emma, Thank you very much!
To be honest, I have only starterd working with markers about a year ago, and I only used copic moarkers. I think prismacolors are fine too. The paper is actually very important. The thing I like though about the copic markers is the brush tip they have.
    Good luck!

  3. Thank you so much Wouter!
I didn't even think about the paper. What kind of paper do you use?

  4. I try different brands of marker paper. I like the new heavyweight paper by copic, but most markerpapers are fine. Some animatiuon papers are nice too. they bleed more, but I like the effect.
