In this blog I'll share what I have learned over the years about drawing and painting. My processes creating illustrations, visual development and concept art. I'll share thoughts, techniques and ideas that have worked for me in my career as an illustrator. I hope they inspire , and work for you too!

  1. This is much faster than drawing vectors in Illustrator and fill the shapes afterwards in Photoshop the same way. Thanks for sharing!

  6. I just tried the tutorial and could follow it perfectly up to point 8 where you use a textured brush.
After that I can't figure out what layer you paint into. Do you paint directly into layer 2? If so I'm nit getting the right result, as shown in point 9. I'm obviously missing something. Please help, as this looks like a great technique. Many thanks. (I'd happily email you some screen grabs if it helps too)

  7. If I try to paint directly into Layer 2, it will only let me colour in greyscale. Should I have only my layer2 mask selected in the channels section? Or do I need the RGB channels switched on also? Appologies for not getting this right, it seems everyone else is :)
